    BATHURST 12 HOUR 2017

Post  Commodore S on Thu Feb 02, 2017 1:24 am

    Started a fresh page:

In my opinion these blokes are very much in the contest.

Russell and Tony really look fit. Skaifey looks like he ate a cat
and purchased some socks to match his underwear however is still
very talented with his eye on the prize

Shaun and Murphy1 SKe will be televising the event. Check your T.V Guides. Decision made to-day

WOW great race. Well done to the Marrenello guys.

some great battles and standout drives.

    some hard luck stories.

Russell was so gutted felt for him.

WOW Engel on SVG. somehow i don't think he will be back at STM in the near future.

    Didn't watch the full event,

Great dice between Maranello and STM,

SVG just wasn't on his game and made some unusual mistakes,

Gutted also for the Ingall/Skaike/Longhurst car, Such a simple error,

Engel should not have made his comments known on public television
which was in the heat of the moment as he admitted later.

Enjoyed it but will always be Supercars man. To many regulation's
relating to Balance of Power (BOP) which doesn't make true racing
    and makes for confusion

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend there. We set up our motorhome in the officials camping area up behind the pits Thursday night and came home Monday. The access to the roof of the pit complex was awesome. It was fantastic being up there for the start of the race on Sunday. Spent some time at the top near the tower on Saturday and took about a million pics and videos (was there for the GT qualifying).

I've got to tell this story (I'll keep it short)... While admiring the KTM Xbow behind the pits on Saturday arvo a young lady walked past and stopped to say hello. She looked like she might of been one of the promo girls for the team. We started having a chat to her and got talking about women in motorsport. To our surprise she told us that she had just raced one of these (KTM) in Europe. We asked her where she was from as she sounded Aussie. She said she was from Maitland, near Newcastle. She then went on to tell us that she had won a drive to race a Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 car for Reiter Engineering this year. "WOW' I said, "Well done, good on you". She then went on to tell us that she will be the first Australian female to get a drive for a full season in European GT. First Aussie female to do this and I hadn't read anything about it? We chatted a bit longer before my ex brother-in-law and I decided a few drinks back at the motorhome were calling. As the two of us talked further about this young lady and what she had done we realised we hadn't even asked her what her name was, neither of us had any idea who she was. Anyway, while walking along the back of the pits on Sunday arvo we seen her again so I had to go and ask her for her name. Her name is Caitlen Wood, she is 20 years old. The reason I wanted to tell this story is simply to say that here is this young lady doing amazing things in motorsport overseas in a very short time, yet here in her home country there is hardly anything written about her. There are a few mentions of her on the internet, but this is the only article I could find regarding her drive this year http://www.theherald.com.au/story/4337182/maitland-teen-wins-dream-european-gt-drive-in-lamborghini-photos/ . She actually seems to be getting more written about her overseas than she is here. I just think this is really sad.

But yes, I had an absolutely awesome weekend and really hope to do it again in a couple years time.

So glad you enjoyed it mate.

unfortuately this young lady is not alone/

We have a number of young competitors competing overseas who
receive no recognition and it's wrong.

yeah mate. I guess you always know there are young people out there not getting recognised for the good they are doing, but meeting this young lady really bought it home. Such a really lovely person to talk to as well. Hope she succeeds at whatever series she competes in.
